Cuesta Technologies, LLC today announced that it has been awarded a contract for the redesign of the San Mateo County Web site.
One of America's top 100 county governments, San Mateo County (CA), is the 70th most populous county in the U.S. Its Web site attracts over 66,000 unique visitors per month, nearly one tenth the County's entire population.
Of the fourteen companies that responded to the County's Request For Proposals, Cuesta emerged as the top choice following an extensive evaluation process by the County's newly formed Web site management committee.
"Although we received many impressive responses to our RFP, Cuesta demonstrated their understanding of our vision and their ability to create distinctly unique and professional designs, along with meeting our high expectations, time line and budget," said Kathleen Boutte Advisory Systems Engineer for the County, and point person for the County's Web site management committee.
The evaluation criteria were quite stringent and included usability of sample designs, time frame to create a successful design, cost, previous experience designing for government clientele, eye-appealing look-and-feel, compliance with human interface principles and accessibility statutes, and unique/creative design.

According to the public record of the County's RFPs and responses, Cuesta Technologies stood alone after objective consideration. Each proposal was scored on the basis of the committee's specified criteria. In the end, there was a 757-point spread among the respondents, with Cuesta's score leading the pack by more than 170 points.
"The County's acceptance of our proposal for a new design provides further evidence that Cuesta Technologies deserves its growing reputation as one of the finest independent Web design and development firms in Silicon Valley," said Swiryn.
