The new Steck Vaughn Web site
represents the latest implementation of Cuesta's Web site technology that
consists of fast database access tied to navigable dynamic Web pages.
Kelly Caldwell, advertising project manager for Steck-Vaughn Company stated
that their decision to use Cuesta Technologies for the development of the
SV Educational Resource largely hinged on Cuesta's unique technology. "We
had been using FileMaker Pro internally for a long time and our Web site
was already running on a UNIX server. Discovering that we could continue
using FileMaker Pro for our new online catalog, implement it on the UNIX
server and leverage the training and personnel we had in place, meant that
we could save an enormous amount of time and money."
The heart of the new Steck-Vaughn Web site is an online catalog of over
2,200 library books, supplementary materials, CD-ROMs, courseware and
manipulatives through which visitors can search, browse, and order securely
online. Visitors can easily select personalized search criteria which,
within seconds, produces a customized search results list. |
Cuesta's technology allows Caldwell and staff to update catalog data,
including prices, description and pictures as often as desired from their
Austin, TX offices. Additionally, because Cuesta Technologies converted the
older static pages of Steck-Vaughn's earlier web site to Cuesta's Dynamic
page generation system, content managers throughout Steck-Vaughn can now
easily change text and graphics in the About, What's New, Idea Place,
Customer Service and Technical Support areas of the Web Site, thus keeping
their pages current and timely.
Steck-Vaughn company is celebrating it's 60th year in the Educational
Publishing business this year and is the world's second-largest publisher
of supplementary educational materials serving the elementary through high
school, adult education, public and school library, bookstore and home
education markets. For more information on Steck-Vaughn Company
